Miss Augusta Rutledge

My Dearest Friend.

I suppose you have heard the saddest news that could be broken to me. that which breaks my heart. I know not what could induce my sister to act so unjustly and to take along another. and the worst is that suspicion rests on me but I am inocent as God knows I am.
Edd's thought I took them away somewhere, so they could get away. You know I was at church, and I have proof that I went straight to Church and home from Church.
And when I think that I may never see my sister again, it breaks my heart. Oh, you can not imagine my sorrows.
But something tells me she will not be long from me, something tells me she will soon return. I have something which she holds dearer than all, my mothers ring.
If you love your people, if you dont want to break their hearts. for the love of God Augusta dont leave your home. You know not what sorrow is untill you have sorrows of your own
There is still some comfort to know that I have one true friend left. August dont for heaven sake dont doubt or deny my love.
Well I will close for I can tell you better than I can write it. Hoping I may see you very soon I Still remain Your broken-hearted Lover. Harry.
