Miss Augusta Rutledge
Carrollton R#3

Friend-

Here is something I rec'd last winter possibly you can help the girls to see that these "rules are strictly observed"
    Ha Ha!!
Dont get mad Ha! Ha!! Ans when ever you get time, if you find out who it is if you want to know ask somebody whoes box #54 is R#3         From A "Friend."
    How to kiss a lady.
The gentleman must be taller than the lady if he intends to kiss
Take her hand in yours and gently draw her to you pass your left hand over her right sholder, diagonly down a cross her back.
Under her left arm ' press her to your bosom at the same time she will throw her head back, and you have nothing else to do but lean a little forward and press your lips to hers, and the thing is done
    X (oh my)
Dont make a noise over it as if you were fireing off shooting crackers. Nor your innocent dove, but gently fold the damsel in your arms with out mashing her standing collar or spoiling her curls. And by a sweet preserver upon her mouth revel in the blissful-ness of your situation with out smacking your lips on it as you would over a glass of lager beer.
    N. B. ladies should see that these rules are strictly observed. Ha! Ha!!
    dont get offended,

From a Friend, "Dutch"

This should of been wrote to the boys but I thought I would send it to you H.
